Myles was born and raised in the greater Boston area. He left the East Coast and ventured to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. While at Cal he worked with Prof. Matthew Francis attaching small molecules to viral capsids using protein bioconjugation techniques. After receiving his B.S. in 2009, Myles moved to Caltech and received his Ph.D. in the laboratory of Prof. Robert Grubbs investigating ruthenium-based Z-selective olefin metathesis. Myles joined the Swager group for his postdoctoral studies in 2014 where he is currently investigating carbon nanotube-polymer composite materials and commercial applications of liquid colloid particles.
