Abstract
A semi-conjugated iptycene polymer contg. a special “crankshaft” backbone leading to superior soly. in a nematic LC medium was synthesized. The incorporation of this polymer in the LC leads to thermodn. stabilization of the nematic mesophase. This effect is attributed to organizational coupling of the LC mols. to the polymer chains.
