Darryl was born in Toronto and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He received his B.Sc. in Chemical Biology at McMaster University and then remained there for graduate school, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Alex Adronov. His graduate research involved noncovalent functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotubes using conjugated polymers to enable solubilization, sorting, and decoration of nanotube surfaces without damaging their optoelectronic properties. During his time in graduate school, Darryl played on the varsity squash team at McMaster. In May of 2019, Darryl joined the Swager group as a postdoctoral fellow, where he is currently working on gas sensing.
